5 Top Hotels to Stay at in Portree Isle of Syke
Portree Isle of Skye is a great place to stay. Here are some top hotels in Portree to consider. Be warned though, these hotels book up insanely fast especially during high season!
We planned a trip to the Isle of Skye at the end of May, but booking a Portree hotel turned out to be pretty difficult. During my research, I became familiar with a number of hotels around Skye and I wished I could have stayed in them all! This is why I’ve compiled a list of my top five hotels in Portree.
Although there are a ton of B&Bs in Portree, I found it rather difficult to find a place at first. Everything was either completely booked up, or super expensive. But as opposed to a large number of Portree B&Bs, there aren’t too many hotels on the Isle of Skye.
Staying in Portree has many advantages on your trip to the Isle of Skye. It’s centrally located to most all of the major hikes, and there’s a good choice of food in the city center.
But, if you want to stay in Portree, don’t hesitate to book at least 2 weeks in advance during peak season! Hopefully, you can book further in advance to secure a good rate.
1. The Cuillin Hills Hotel
This is arguably the best hotel in Portree. It’s a 4-star hotel and we stayed here for one night. The rooms were comfortable and refreshingly modern. The Cuillin Hills is the only large-scale hotel in the city. It actually used to be the summer home of a wealthy local. Here, you feel like you’re summering somewhere private.
The restaurant was also pretty formal, facing the water. The food was good, but not life-changing. We did have a snarky waitress though who kinda acted a little snooty though. But generally, this hotel is a great option if you can snag a room. Your view of the water is gorgeous. You can probably walk to town, but we chose to drive because it’s further away.
