Photographs of Cherry Blossoms Around Japan
After living in Japan for four years, I grew accustomed to viewing the sakura cherry blossoms bloom every Spring. Sakura is simply the Japanese word for cherry blossoms, and this time of year hosts a national celebration unrivaled by few.
Japan is famous for its cherry trees and every year, the culture celebrates with Hanami. Hanami is simply a picnic under the trees. It’s truly a wonderful experience with nature and culture.
I have so many photographs of sakura cherry blossom trees, that it’s seriously impossible for me to go through them all. But over the years I’ve culled out some of my favorites.
If you’re heading to Tokyo soon, I highly recommend my book Hidden Tokyo. It’s filled with tons of insights on a range of activities around Tokyo. It also helps to explain this complex city better by dissecting 18 different major neighborhoods into chapters, with over 400 pages of pure Tokyo insight & recommendations. It lays out the city in a way that you can grasp!
lol…te first and 5th pictures are not sakura, they’re magnolia
It’s magnolia sakura…blooms a little earlier in Tokyo before the rest of the blossoms. at least that’s what they call it there….
Amazingly beautiful pictures of the cherry blossoms! The arrival of the cherry blossoms certainly look like the most beautiful time of the year in Japan.
It’s gorgeous. Fall is equally beautiful as well too!
Gorgeous photos! Ah, I’d love to experience Cherry Blossoms in Japan <3 I've been to the Sakura blooms in Washington, D.C., and that was a dream come true. I can only imagine the experience of being in Japan at that time!
