Staying in Trendy Grünerløkka

 Trendy Grünerløkka Oslo

We arrived in Norway late at the start of our trip and we headed straight to our short-term rental in Grünerløkka Oslo. Grünerløkka is Oslo’s trendiest new suburb and fortunately, it’s also in an excellent location. Only a short bus ride from Oslo’s Central Station, it’s easy to arrive in the neat little neighborhood of Grünerløkka Oslo.

Our stay in Oslo was sponsored by Roomorama. Roomorama is a short-term vacation rental site with over 300,000 properties worldwide.

An interesting part about staying in a short-term rental is that you can really experience the local culture in a way that you can’t at a hotel.

We arrived at our rental and after corresponding with the owner, we fetched the key out of a hidden spot. It felt a bit adventurous and when we got it, we were excited to see what was in store for us!

The property we stayed in was really interesting and cool. It really felt like entering into an apartment room you see at Ikea. It was small, but uncluttered and very space-efficient. Wow, this must be how Scandinavians live! We were fascinated to see the inside of a real Scandinavian apartment and it was our home for the next two days.

Things to Do in Grünerløkka

Grünerløkka is a really interesting neighborhood and it’s the perfect spot for travelers who enjoy a peek into how the locals live. You can wander outside a few blocks and you’ll stumble upon numerous cafes, restaurants, shops, and local spots.

I kid you not, we ate the best salmon of our lives at a restaurant nearby called Jacob Aall Brasserie & Bar. It was late and we were starving. Good thing we didn’t check its reviews, because honestly, they were underwhelming. But we both ordered the salmon and it was completely unforgettable.

I ordered the Grilled Laks, and the salmon was perfectly crusted and salted in the most brilliant way I’ve ever had salmon. I can’t promise you it’ll taste the same, but my husband and I were not disappointed!!

And right next door, there’s a park that has MINI GOLF! How cool is that?!

We both really enjoyed our stay at this property and we loved Grünerløkka. We definitely recommend checking out this suburb the next time you’re in Oslo!

  • I don’t know, I think salmon in Norway is probably super awesome regardless of whether you went to a top notch restaurant or one with underwhelming reviews. Maybe you could try a few more restaurants and get mind blown even more!

    • Ha! Perhaps I didn’t clarify. This was the first restaurant we ate at in Norway. I ate salmon for 9 days straight around the country of Norway. I’ve had lots of salmon in my life so when I say best salmon of my life, I wasn’t joking. There’s a culinary art that sadly few take advantage of…The restaurant has terrible reviews on Yelp and it’s quite expensive. Fortunately we were too tired getting in to look up its reviews! Would have missed something really special….

  • Hi Stephanie, thank you for the post! I’m going to Norway soon, and am intending to visit Oslo. I see you mentioned you stayed in a Roomorama apartment, could I know which one it is? (please let me know the name or link to it). Thank you so much in advance!
